Welcome to the Student Companion Site for

Aerial Photography and Image Interpretation, 2nd Edition

Welcome to the Web site for Aerial Photography and Image Interpretation, Second Edition by David P. Paine and James D. Kiser. This Web site gives you access to the rich tools and resources available for this text, including the lab manual. The material is presented in an order that fits the course as taught over a ten week quarter system. Those courses on a longer semester system may wish to supplement additional laboratory material to fill the extra weeks.

Most of the lab exercises are built around a triplicate set of aerial photos for the McDonald-Dunn Research Forest at Oregon State University. For those who are using this manual from the web site, scanned images of the three photos are available. The images are in high-resolution JPEG format and are from the 2002 flight. Photos are identified as 1-40-140, 141, and 142 from the COOP-2002 project.

The lab exercises are available in PDF format and some accompanying spreadsheet files that were created in Microsoft Excel 2002. For each of the lab exercises, relevant text and figures from the textbook have been included. Notes for course instructors have also been included at the end of several of the labs for additional assistance in using the lab material. Each of the labs are packaged in a Zip file with the appropriate support files and images for each of download.
