Welcome to the Instructor Companion Site for

Contested Boundaries: A New Pacific Northwest History

by David J. Jepsen and David J. Norberg.

Instructors whose institutions have adopted Contested Boundaries for classroom use can tap into a variety of tools and aids to enhance the teaching experience and make their job easier. Here’s what you’ll find inside:

PowerPoint Presentations

Today’s visual-oriented students will appreciate having your lectures colorfully displayed for easy tracking and notetaking. We have provided one or more presentations for each chapter. We’ve left them in PowerPoint format so you can download them to your desktop and revise them as you see fit. We encourage you to make these presentations your own: adding or deleting slides or images and revising copy.

Assignments

There are 38 separate assessments for Contested Boundaries, three or more for each chapter. Choose from multiple choice, short answer or essay exams. Additional, stand-alone assignments are available for selected chapters. Again, we hope you’ll use these assessments and revise them to fit your class and teaching style.

Images

A variety of photos, illustrations and maps are available for downloading. These images come from two government archives. To review additional images, visit the National Archives Seattle at https://www.archives.gov/seattle/exhibit/picturing-the-century or the Washington State Digital Archives at https://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/.

Primary Documents

Few things bring history to life more than primary documents. Here you’ll find correspondence, government documents and a variety of Indian treaties in both PDF and Microsoft Word format. Assignments related to these documents can be found under the Assignments tab.
