She received her Ph. D. in Geography from the School of Geography and Development at the University of Arizona. She received a B.S. in Atmospheric Science at Cornell University and a M.A. in Geography at the University of Arizona. Her research focuses on the production of environmental knowledge, natural hazard management, and the political economy of hazards and development.
