Quantitative Data Analysis: Doing Social Research to Test Ideas

Welcome to the Web site for Quantitative Data Analysis: Doing Social Research to Test Ideas by Donald J. Treiman. This Web site gives you access to the rich tools and resources available for this text.

For students using this book in a course and researchers using the book as a resource, this Web site contains two sets of materials (called “Resources” in the top list):

  1. Stata -do- files used to create the worked examples in the text and the resulting -log- files, plus an introduction (a .pdf file named Read_me_first.pdf, which should be read before trying to work with the files), and a list of known errors in the text and -do- files, a .pdf file named Error_correction_notes.pdf.

  2. Data sets used by the Stata -do- files.

To access either of these resources, simply click on the appropriate bullet under “Browse by Resource” and download the files to your computer. Materials are not organized chapter-by-chapter, since much of the material, in particular, the data sets, is repeatedly used in different chapters. Thus, the “Browse by Chapter” drop-down menu should not be used.
