Welcome
Welcome to the Web site for Quantitative Data Analysis: Doing Social Research to Test Ideas by Donald J. Treiman. This Web site gives you access to the rich tools and resources available for this text.
Students: To access resources for this book, please use the “Student Companion Site” link in the Toolbox on the right-hand side of this page.
For instructors using this book for class, this Web site contains three sets of materials (called “Resources” in the left-hand list):
- Instructor resources, which include suggested weekly exercises and, where appropriate, illustrative answers, plus an introductory comment, named Read_me_first.pdf.
- Stata -do- files used to create the worked examples in the text and the resulting -log- files, plus an introduction (a .pdf file named Read_me_first.pdf, which should be read before trying to work with the files), and a list of known errors in the text and -do- files, a .pdf file named Error_correction_notes.pdf.
- Data sets used by the Stata -do- files.
To access any of these resources, simply click on the appropriate bullet under “Browse by Resource” and download the files to your computer. Materials are not organized chapter-by-chapter, since much of the material, in particular, the data sets, is repeatedly used in different chapters. Thus, the “Browse by Chapter” drop-down menu should not be used.
